"My training could inadvertently give a sociopath atomic breath or something. While awesome, that would be totally irresponsible."
—Greg to Justin, Elliot and Nanase

Sensei Greg is the founder and owner of the Anime-Style Martial Arts Dojo.

History[]

After his girlfriend dumped him, Greg watched anime for 168 hours straight and deciphered the key to accessing the awesome power of a person's "ki" by participating in difficult, overly complex, and fairly ridiculous activities that according to the laws of physics shouldn't yield such fantastic results, and yet somehow do. Greg founded the Anime-style Martial Arts Dojo based on those principles.[2]

When Elliot brought Sarah to the dojo Greg asked him to do a demonstration match with Nanase.[3]

When Elliot and Tedd went to the PTTAOLUTASF, Elliot asked Greg to guard Grace. At first he hid outside the house[4] but when he sensed magic power from Grace playing with her transformation ability[5][6] he was worried and broke though a door to enter.[7][8] After Tedd and Elliot sent a message about Ellen, Greg and Grace went to Moperville North High School to tell Sarah.[9] When they found Sarah and Ellen,[10] Ellen was fighting the Goo.[11] Greg participated in the fight himself.[12]

When Elliot invited Nanase and Justin to Grace's birthday party, Greg overheard Nanase mention that Elliot can transform into a girl[13] and dumped a bucket of water on him to see if it would cause him to transform like in Ramna ½.[14] Then he told them that he offered to teach Grace to defend herself without seriously injuring her opponent.[15]

Later he decided to close down his Dojo[16] because the danger of giving people magical powers was too great and the only students left were Justin, Nanase, and Elliot.[17] He was hired by another dojo and offered to teach Justin, Elliot and Nanase there and repeated his offer to Grace.[18]

Grace accepted his offer a few days later.[19] On what would have been Grace's first lesson and one of the last lessons at the old dojo, a fire monster was summoned at the dojo[20] by Dex.[21] After Grace and Elliot entered the dojo, Dex summoned more fire monsters to hold Greg and Grace and a dragonlike monster to hold Elliot.[22] After the dragon left with Elliot Greg easily defeated the fire monsters.[23] When he confronted Dex he found that Dex was surrounded by a barrier of fire[24] and that he was under the influence of magical mid control. Therefore, he stopped Grace from attacking Dex.[25] As Grace's combat form is fireproof Greg taught her the sleeper hold.[26] After Grace knocked out Dex,[27] and Dex woke up[28] Greg offered to hang out with Dex once in a while. As Dex shares his liking of the Lucky Bunny Bounty Show, Greg expected to get along well with Dex.[1]

After that Grace and Ellen trained with Greg. Before Christmas they sparred using Ellen's transformation beam and Grace's energy shield.[29] When Grace was struck by Ellen's FV5 beam Greg was embarrassed by the result.[30]

After Elliot decided that he needed to learn to fight while flying, he talked to Greg about sparring while flying.[31]

Abilities[]

Greg knows a sleeper hold technique to knock an opponent unconscious, which he taught to Grace during the battle with the flame summons using the flame summons as practice dummies.[32] He has also demonstrated that he can use his ki as a force field.[33]

Along with spells enhancing his fighting abilities and mentioned force field, he can sense (magic) power.[34]

Relationships[]

Dex[]

After the incident with the flame summons, he offered to hang out with Dex sometime. Surprisingly, they had a lot in common—including liking the Lucky Bunny Bounty Show.[1]

They have probably regular game nights,[35] which may or may not include other people.

Grace[]

Greg offered to train Grace,[36] repeated that offer after closing ASMA dojo,[37] and when Grace finally accepted,[38] he actually started to train her,[32][39] and continued even after closing his dojo[40] (it wasn't specified where, although the new dojo is an obvious option). We saw Ellen helping with that training, but don't know who else might be attending those private lessons.

Not-yet-specified girlfriend[]

Greg has a girlfriend.[35] They met on New Year's Eve.

Quotes[]

"Do anything evil and I will punch you through the face."
—Greg to Noah, EGS Main Story Comic for 2011-05-23

  • Greg is not old man or a pervert - and is sad about it, as it's against the tropes about anime martial arts masters[41]
